The Winery


In addition to being the most visited winery in Ribera del Duero, Protos is one of the pioneers in the area. In fact, in 1982, it was Protos who ceded its "Ribera del Duero" brand to the Regulatory Council of the D.O. The winery has managed to create its own identity as a reference in the area, which it has also managed to capture in its wines from Rueda and its wines are recognised as a reference in both areas.

Protos Reserva is an elegant, complex wine with a lot of character that will not leave anyone indifferent. This red wine elaborated in the DO Ribera del Duero has been aged for 18 months in French and American oak barrels, and a minimum of 24 months in bottle. It is a great choice for wine lovers and one of the Protos elaborations with the best marks from the wine critics. Its gastronomic versatility allows us to combine it with poultry, beef, game or sausages. It is a perfect wine to pair with stews.

Very old vineyards located on slopes with south orientation. Over 50 years. Yield of 2,500 kg / ha.

Making notes

Manual vintage. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks, with temperature control between the 26º / 28ºC. Maceration for 21 days, with several daily tracends. 18 months in American and French barrels. 50% new French oak barrels, 30% French barrels of one year, 20% American barrels of one year. 24 months in bottle.
