A selection of great wines with a fresh and elegant style.
The story of Ramon Bilbao is the materialisation of the idea of the man who gave his name to the winery. A project that revisits classic Rioja concepts such as Tempranillo or American oak, to give a fruitier and fresher version of Rioja Alta, to become one of the most admired brands in the world.
The winery was founded in 1924 in the town of Haro by the great Ramón Bilbao, after whom the winery is named. In fact, in 2016 he founded his own winery in Rueda, "Finca Las Amedias", which produces some of the best Verdejos in the appellation.
Ramon Bilbao's vineyard has been growing over the years, currently the winery owns 205 hectares in Rioja of vineyards over 40 years old of the Tempranillo variety, in addition to making wine from another 900 hectares of vineyards of small farmers with whom he maintains a close relationship.
In Rueda, the winery has 60 hectares of Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. A spectacular vineyard at an altitude of over 700 metres above sea level.
Ramon Bilbao has the honour of having recently received several awards for his brilliant work and career. These include the award for the best Spanish winery at the IWSC (International Wine & Spirit Competition) in 2016. In addition to entering the select list of the 50 most admired brands in the world according to the prestigious magazine "Drinks International" in 2012.
This year, 2 new references have joined its extensive portfolio. Its two best sellers, Ramon Bilbao Crianza and Ramon Bilbao Verdejo, certified organic. In a clear commitment to modernisation and respect for the environment.
