The palate is dense and unctuous without edges and with good balance between acidity and grade. In aftertaste of ripe fruit notes and mineral memories.

Luis Cañas Fermentado en Barrica is a white wine produced by the Luis Cañas winery in La Rioja, a long-standing specialist in this region. It is made from Viura grapes -about 85%- and Malvasía grapes, all of them coming from old vineyards over 50 years old. Ageing lasts a total of 3 months and is done on its lees, resulting in a full-bodied wine. We recommend pairing it with fish in all its forms, from fish rice dishes to blue fish or grilled white fish.

350 hectares of vineyard greater than 50 years of age, cultivated on clay-calcareous soil.

Making notes

The grapes used by Luis Cañas fermented in barrel come from old vineyards over 50 years. The vintage is performed manually and the clusters are selected in the same vineyard and in the cellar. Luis Cañas Fermented in Barrel Fermented for 17 days at 19ºC of temperature. Forewelry 4 months aging on Lias, 75% French oak, 25% American oak.


Cold winters and very dry and hot summers.
