Description of Sommos Colección Syrah
Sommos Colección Syrah 2017 is a Syrah monovarietal with the typical identity of the Rhodanian variety. This grape adapts so well in the south-east of France although it comes from the north of the rhodanian where it reaches its maximum splendour in areas such as Cote-Rotie. It tends to develop spicy and balsamic notes under a black fruit expression, and is comfortable in warm climates as a complement to Mediterranean varieties with less concentration and color coverage. In Sommos wineries they conduct these Syrah vines in unilateral cordon to protect the berries from the sun and reduce yields, getting less bunches of smaller grapes and greater concentration of flavor and tannin. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels resulting in a balanced Mediterranean style Syrah with unmistakable notes of pepper, laurel and light smoky notes of the variety.
