Notas del Viñedo

This territory has 13,000 hectares of vineyards of the 63,500 controlled by Regulatory Council of the Rioja qualified origin denomination. It is located in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, accommodating at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria, specifically on the road of the Hoya, where the soil is clay-calcareous.

Making notes

Light clarification. Without cold stabilization, only natural stabilization suffered by wines during barrel aging. Amicropic filtration. Breeding in French and American oak barrels for 12 months.

The vintage of 2017 is characterized by two important points. The severe drought and the frost of the morning of April 28. These two aspects have been key in the amount and quality of the harvest. The year began with a dry winter, it barely snowed, this absence of rainfall sepled during the beginning of spring. During the month of May the rains were presenting but they were no longer sufficient to keep soils with moisture throughout the summer, since I continue with very dry months. Primaveral frost was key in the yields of 25000 ha of Vineyard of Rioja Alta and Rioja Alaves mainly. The frost was very aggressive by reducing the crops of these farms in a drastic way.
