The world's cradle of Riesling
One of the most prestigious wineries in the Mosel region - and in all of Germany - Dr Loosen has been in the same family for the past two centuries. It has 15 hectares of vineyards, on privileged plots situated on steep hills between the villages of Erden, Ürzig and Huelen (Middle Moselle). Since 1988, the estate has been managed by Ernst Loosen.
Ernst Loosen has managed to avoid the high yields of young vineyards and to consolidate a project with vineyards that are more than 70 years old. Some of the plots are classified as Grand Cru and 1st Cru, thanks to their slate soils, the mild temperatures due to their proximity to the river and their southern orientation. Due to this privileged environment and the different elaborations, including botrytised and late harvests, a wide range of wines is created, both dry and sweet. A very interesting project in the Mosel area to get to know the potential of the Riesling grape.
