Wines with character
The winery was founded in 1916 by Juan Gil Jiménez, who passed down from generation to generation the good work of the land and the pride of the brand name. The fourth generation has linked tradition with the technical revolution.
The winery is located in a place with an extreme climate and strong contrasts. Hot summers with intense sunshine, long, cold winters, differences of twenty-five degrees between day and night, and an almost total absence of rain to alleviate the dry, stony soil.
The vineyards are located between 700 and 850 metres above sea level, on sandy and limestone soil, stony on the surface and very poor in nutrients, with a great capacity to retain the little water it receives. This is the realm of Monastrell, the region's own variety, present exclusively or in a very high percentage in all the wines.
Alongside the old vines, more than forty years old, and other younger Monastrell vines, Syrah, Cabernet, Merlot and Petit Verdot also grow, which adapt well to the soil conditions and provide intense nuances of spices and fruit.
Given the importance of the vines, the winery is located next to the vineyard to allow an exhaustive monitoring of the evolution of the grapes, a necessary condition to obtain a great wine.
