Smell

On the nose, high intensity fruits of the ripe berries, gooseberries, blackberries, flowers of violets and fennel, with a complex background of sweet spices, bay leaf, black olive, licorice, cedar, incense, leaf snuff and cocoa powder.

Taste

The palate is powerful, with great structure and balance, mineral, with a pleasant acidity and creamy tannins that leave a noble and elegant step. Long aftertaste with notes of ripe black fruit, licorice and entrance bakery with a pleasant final sensation.

Áster Crianza was born from the wine project located in the DO Ribera del Duero of the winery group La Rioja Alta S. A., one of the most important in Spain. Áster Crianza wine is made with grapes from the Fuentecojo and El Caño plots, located around the winery, at an altitude of 780 meters. This project gives us a powerful wine, with a magnificent structure and minerality, with a gradable acidity and creamy tannins.

Vineyards located in Anguix (Burgos) surrounding the cellar. They are located almost 780 meters altitude.

Making notes

After his passage through the selection table, a gentle and squeezed, and a few days of preremenive maceration, the grape went on to the deposits where they performed the alcoholic fermentation. After 16 days of fermentation, the wine made the malolactic French oak barrel with weekly Battonages. The aging was developed for 22 months in new French oak barrels (70%) and the rest, in French oak of two wines. Three trasgues were performed by the traditional method. Bottling in April 2017.

Climatología

A year with large meteorological oscillations. After a soft winter and without frost, spring and summer brought higher temperatures and less rainfall from the usual. In September and October, the sunny and hot days highlighted, with an exceptional ripening of the grape. The wines of this harvest stood out for its impressive coloring intensity and marked expression, great balance and tannic potential during the phenolic ripening of berries, pointing a magnificent longevity.
