López de Heredia Viña Tondonia

D. Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta began a process of wine production, once the Bordeaux businessmen had returned to their country; for this reason Rafael decided to perforate the Calado, to obtain an underground space in which to stack the barrels in which to begin the ageing of his wines. Tradition and conviction: centuries-old attributes

At Lopez de Heredia, the winemaking process is a family heritage that is passed down from generation to generation; it is a mystique present in a daily work, rooted in the perenniality of tradition and in the deep conviction of the validity and validity of the family methods.

In order to obtain the highest quality wines, it is necessary to have one's own agricultural heritage. For this reason, between 1913-1914, Don Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta planted Viña Tondonia, giving rise to the winery's best known product. Viña Tondonia is a beautiful vineyard of more than 100 hectares, located on the right bank of the river Ebro, where the most typically Riojan grape varieties are grown.
