Description of Occhipinti II Frappato
Winemaker Arianna Occhipinti shows us with Il Frappato, a fresher, lighter and more fragrant red wine than one might expect in a warm land like Sicily.
This curious Frappato owes its unique character to the microclimate and the volcanic soils of the foothills of the Ibleos Mountains, where Occhipinti's 10 hectares of vineyards grow, 4 hectares of which are planted with 50 year old Frappato di Vittoria vines.
Organic production.
Macerated and fermented in cement tanks for 40 days with daily pumping over.
Aged on its lees in French oak barrels for 12 months, then 6 months in bottle. Unclarified and unfiltered.
