Climatología

The year 2018 began with a cold winter, characteristic of the Ribera del Duero, in which minimum temperatures of -12 OC were reached. The temperatures remained low during the beginning of spring, despite these conditions, the brottish occurred within the usual dates, at the end of April. After a very dry 2017, the rain made its appearance at the end of winter and remained continuously during the spring, the amounts collected were very abundant being the year 2018 qualified as very humid in the area. The vegetative development of the plants was favored by the temperature regime and water reserves, which also caused a considerable increase in the size of the berries. As a consequence of this increase in the size of the grapes and even though temperatures during the months of September and October were warmer than usual, maturation was delayed. The vintage lengthened until the end of October by giving exceptional production, both in quantity and in quality. The absence of rains in the final epochs of the cycle also secured the health quality of the harvest. It is worth mentioning that the vintage of the year 2018 was the second in quantity, only exceeded by the year 2016.
